Those sneaky liberals

. http://www.onenewsnow.com/2007/04/bill_maher_evades_security_at.php This link is to a story about Bill Maher sneaking in a back door at the Creation museum. I would like to say what a snide, self important jerk I think he is, but I would then have to repent later so I won't say all that.

http://www.onenewsnow.com/2007/04/michigan_student_suspended_for.php Now this story is pretty indicative of liberal attacks in our public schools.

http://www.onenewsnow.com/2007/04/gideons_still_on_the_hot_seat.php. This one really is a clear cut case of religious persecution in Florida.

Just thought I'd give everyone something to pray about. As if we need to look hard for something. God bless you all. Remember prayer can change things

Sin Sick World

Like most people I am filled with sorrow over the shootings at VT in Virginia today. Unlike a lot of people I don't have to ask why. We live in a world that is sinking deeper and deeper into an abyss of filth and degradation. Things that a few years ago dismayed and even shocked people are now considered the norm. We turn on the news and see gay pride parades in which simulated sex acts are displayed on the screen for all to see. We have on demand abortion that can be performed all the way up to delivery. On top of that the leading conservative candidate for President is for federally funded abortion. Now that the Supreme Court has struck down the Texas statute banning sodomy as an invasion of privacy, a man is using that as legal precedent to escape punishment in his incest trial. There is a bill being considered HR 1592 which would make it a hate crime to preach against homo-sexuality. With thing like this going on I honestly am not surprised by todays violence. I am saddened, but not surprised. Even as I pray for the families of those slain, I can't help but wonder what's next and when will it happen. We live in a sin sick world and we have almost legislated the Great Physician out of office.

More reflections

I have been spending a lot of time lately in 1 and 2 Timothy. The more I read the more convinced I am that prosperity preachers, at least some of them are mistaken.
1 Timothy 6:2: " Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them. 3 Some false teachers may deny these things, but these are the sound, wholesome teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, and they are the foundation for a godly life. 4 Anyone who teaches anything different is both conceited and ignorant. Such a person has an unhealthy desire to quibble over the meaning of words. This stirs up arguments ending in jealousy, fighting, slander, and evil suspicions. 5 These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they don't tell the truth. To them religion is just a way to get rich.
6 Yet true religion with contentment is great wealth. 7 After all, we didn't bring anything with us when we came into the world, and we certainly cannot carry anything with us when we die. 8 So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. 9 But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is at the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows." I was especially struck with verse 5 and following. If we give, looking for financial reward we are in error. I believe if we even expect God to reward us financially, we are flirting  with error. I believe we should give out of the love of Christ in us expecting nothing, because after all He has already given all. Now as I have stated before I do believe God rewards obedience, and at times He may choose to do that financially. He may not choose that route. I know in pentecostal circles of which I am so happily a part, that my opinion is in the minority, but the more I study and pray about this, I believe the give and receive, name it and claim it folks may be in error. This is of course nothing to divide over. My own beloved wife, who is much smarter than I aren't even in 100% agreement over this. So as the word says test everything. Have a great week cyber wanderers and God bless.

Reflection

I am sitting here reflecting. Thinking about the Lord and how good He is to me. I was reading in Colossians and in chapter 2 verse 8, I read these words. " Don't let anyone lead you astray with empty philosophy and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the evil powers of this world,* and not from Christ". I have not been able to get this scripture out of my mind. So often self proclaimed men of God twist scripture for different reasons. Some do it to cement their power over a congregation. Some do it to milk people of their money. Some are just misguided and have been suckered in by false teachers themselves. The bible tells us that in the last days people will not want to hear the truth but will want their ears tickled. 2nd Timothy 4:3 "For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to right teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever they want to hear". 4 "They will reject the truth and follow strange myths". I believe the prosperity message as it is taught in many churches today, to be one of those types of myths. Now when some of my friends read this I may hear from them and not in a good way, but this has really been weighing on me. God cannot be bought or bribed. Just because I tithe and give above my tithe in offering doesn't mean I will reap some kind of financial windfall. I do however believe God rewards obedience just as He will discipline one who is disobedient. I honestly believe we do a disservice to people when we incorrectly teach about God's provision. Now I know many people want to throw up the term "fresh revelation" concerning prosperity teaching, and while I fully believe in revelation, it never supersedes the written word. It is always best to let scripture interpret scripture. It is so easy to latch on to a feel good teaching to try to get ourselves through a tough spot, but beloved immerse yourself in the word and ask, no, diligently seek the truth about all things. It is all there in black and white, and covered in crimson. God bless you all.

No thanks Rudy

First I want to say thank you for all your prayers for my son-in-law who was injured in a car accident. He is improving every day. Now let's talk about Rudy, the man who would be king. Talk about your liberal in conservative clothing. This is a guy who would like to be the republican nominee even though he supports not only abortion but thinks our taxes should pay for it. The following is from an article on Townhall.com.
In 1989, Rudy stated "there must be public funding of abortions" and criticized President George H.W. Bush for vetoing federal funding for abortions. Asked by CNN if this remains his position, he said: "Probably ... Generally, that's my view." When asked, "Would you support public funding for abortion?" Rudy answered, "If it would deprive someone of a constitutional right, yes." Ultimately, he said that if it's a constitutional right, you have to provide public funding to make sure poor women can do it. Now does that sound like a conservative candidate to you? This man is not who I would want to see in the most powerful office in the world. All I can say is hurry Fred hurry. And no thanks Rudy.

Good ole Fred

Is anyone else as pleased as I am about a possible presidential run by Fred Thompson. In my opinion that would be wonderful. I don't claim to be a political expert, but I know voting for Rudy, or JohnnyMac does not feel right to me. Is Fred the man for conservatives to hitch the wagon too? I am not sure but I plan on doing some research. At least we don't have to worry about the dems to much in 08 as they are already beginning to shoot themselves in their liberal, big spending, unborn baby killing feet.
Will we ever be free of the Anna Nicole Smith drama? I am beginning to wonder. Have we as a people become so desperate for titillation that we will keep this in the news for months to come? I am afraid the answer to that question is yes. I mean,  look at the popularity of shows like Maury, Jerry Springer and that ilk. That answers my earlier question I suppose. I know nothing surprises God but I often wonder if He looks around at those worshipping around the throne and just scratches His head at our folly.
I recently celebrated my 47th bday. I don't think I celebrated so much as tried to ignore it. It doesn't seem that long ago I was making my sisters and brother wait on me or suffer the consequences. Now I have a grown daughter and two that think they are grown. I have grandchildren for goodness sake. And people said I would be dead or in prison before I reached thirty. I guess God fooled them. I pray God blesses all who come across my poor attempt at a blog. In Him,

Robin

Mercy

My son-in-law whom I love as a son was injured in a serious car wreck Wednesday. He suffered three broken vertebrae in his neck. After looking at the car I realize what a miracle the mercy of God is. How often we take for granted all the scripture about God protecting His own. Never again will I be guilty of that. I intend to thank God for His mercy every day the rest of my life. I am referring to the mercy He showed my son-in-law now but let us not forget the mercy shown us on Calvary, when His own son did not receive mercy. He suffered and died for us so that we could obtain mercy. How can one say no to mercy like that? If you have not availed yourself of that sweet mercy, please do so. There will be a time when the offer of mercy is no more. Don't be caught without knowing His mercy. God bless.

Revival

Revival! We all claim to want to see it. We have all heard about the famous outpourings of the past. Do we really know what revival is? I like the definition I saw in an article in Charisma magazine. It stated, the simplest definition of revival is "God visiting His church." Revelation 3:20 says "Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come in." This is Jesus telling His church if you open the door I will come in and fellowship with you. Now comes the hard part. If Jesus comes in stuff has to go out. By stuff I mean all the crap we hold onto. Pet sins, grudges, anger, whatever we have been holding onto. Repentance has to take place and that is a painful thing. It hurts to be purged. It is painful to be pruned. The last year or so I have been going through much stuff. I have allowed this stuff to chill my heart. I have lost my first love. I am now desperate to get that back. I want my ardor for Him back. I want my passion for Jesus back. I want back all the stuff that I have traded for stuff. I again want to hear His voice when I read and meditate on His word. I want His revelation. I want that closeness we once had. I want, no, I need revival. Please pray for me. I have to get back to where I belong.

Priorities

It seems as if one can't turn on the news these days without getting bombarded with either Anna Nicole or Britney Spears. I feel sorry for them both. All the internet is abuzz about Britney checking in and out of rehab and then shaving her head and getting a new tatoo. This is a young woman screaming out for help. I am talking about divine help. She needs to be rehabilitated by the great physician. The Lord Jesus Christ is her best and only real hope. I pray that someone reaches her for Christ. That needs to be someone's priority.
Priorities. I think I am finally getting mine in order. At least I am recognizing the fact that I need to get them in order. Now lets talk about the media's priorities. It seems the more salacious and unsavory something is the more we are pounded with it by the media. Even the fairly conservative Fox News is guilty. I'd like to see the media bombard people with news that matters. News like children in this country that are abused and neglected. Children who go to bed hungry more often than not. I'd like to see someone with the courage to do some stories about the devastating affects abortion has on women. I'd like to see some uplifting things on the news. I'd like to see stories about churches who have developed programs to help feed the needy in their communities. These are some of the things I'd like to see.
Priorities. I don't believe there is only one reason why big media's priorities are the way they are. The big reason of course is money. Sex, smut and salaciousness equals ratings. Why? Because people love to be titillated. It all boils down to our sinful nature. Anyone who thinks man doesn't have a sinful nature is deluded. You never have to teach a child to lie. It comes to them naturally. You never have to teach a child to be selfish with his or her toys. You have to teach them to be truthful. You have to teach them to share. Why? Because we are born to sin. That's what we do best. Until people change their priorities, we can look forward to the continuation of sex and smut on the morning, midday and evening news. I'm looking at my priorities. How are yours?

What do you do with holiness?

I have been reading and hearing a good deal about holiness. Of course since the day I was saved I have been taught about grace. I have many friends who believe once saved always saved. I have just as many friends who believe one can fall from grace. At one time I was a staunch supporter of the theory of it being possible to lose one's salvation. Then I was swung totally the other way. Now, the question I have is this. What do you do with holiness. There are numerous places in the bible where God says be holy. Some are listed here.

Eph. 1:4.  According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
1Peter 1:15,16  but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."

Now these are just a couple of places where we are commanded to be holy. I have found in my study that God doesn't suggest things, He commands them. The bible says if we love Him we will obey His commandments. So when we sit in our pews, either piously with our pickled faces or ecstatically with our hands held high, after spending Saturday night watching something risque on tv, or engaging in a less than appropriate conversation at work, or having unkind thoughts about a neighbor, or even lustful thoughts about a neighbor's spouse we need to ask ourselves a question. What do you do with holiness?

The Episcopal Church

I am saddened by the continued disintegration of the American Anglican Church. This needs to be an example to all other denominations what happens when sound biblical doctrine is replaced by all inclusive, new-age easy believism. The presiding Bishop has even stated she doesn't believe Jesus is the only way to salvation. We need to pray for this body of believers. We need to be ever vigilant. This could happen to any body of believers if our guard is down. Satan doesn't take vacations. It may soon be time for me to look into the home church movement. That will probably get me some emails. Haha. I pray a merry Christmas for all. Pray for the church.

Isn't this great?

9  "It is God who saved us and chose us to live a holy life. He did this not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan long before the world began-to show his love and kindness to us through Christ Jesus. 10 And now he has made all of this plain to us by the coming of Christ Jesus, our Savior, who broke the power of death and showed us the way to everlasting life through the Good News". That is from 2nd Timothy chapter 1 verse 9-10, New Living Translation. Isn't it a great thing? Doesn't it make you feel warm all over. God saved me, not because I deserved it, but because it was His plan. All along He knew He would save an old redneck like me, through the ultimate sacrifice of His only son. All along He knew He would demonstrate His love for me through Jesus Christ. I know I had already posted tonight but I read this and just couldn't help but share how it made me feel. I'm excited, yet humbled. I feel undeserving, yet loved. God is so very good to me. Do you know Him? I pray everyone who reads this knows Him or comes to know Him as savior. Hey! Since it is the Christmas season, if you do know Him share Him with someone who doesn't. What a wonderful gift to give. It doesn't cost you a thing. He already paid the bill. God bless you all.

What is he thinking?

I have never been a big fan of Rick Warren. I know, I know, he ministers to millions of people, he has a huge mega church. It's just lately the Lord has impressed upon me the importance of calling sin, well, sin. He started in my own life, which was not very pleasant, but I'm glad He did. Now I'm not saying Pastor Warren is in sin. That's not my call to make. I am however troubled by some of his recent actions. There is an article at Agape Press that covers an aids conference Saddleback is sponsoring this weekend. http://headlines.agapepress.org/archive/11/292006b.asp. As it does the author, it disturbs me that Pastor Warren would invite not only Senator Barama, but also an avowed active homosexual with a live-in boyfriend. What part of this strikes you as right. As Christians we should not be plowing the same row as abortionists and homosexuals. Yes, the church needs to take the lead in fighting the scourge of Aids. We need to help provide comfort, medicines, and most importantly we need to provide the gospel message. But friends we simply cannot dilute our message by associating with those whose beliefs and lifestyles bely the very message the bible teaches. Now just to make sure there is no misunderstanding what I am saying, I repeat, the church needs to help in the fight against aids. We need to demonstrate the love of Christ to a sick and dying world. We do not,  however need to be unequally yoked. That is why I have to wonder about Pastor Warren. What is he thinking? Feel free to bring on the arrows. I am indeed wearing my armor. Merry Christmas.

Liberal christians or just religious liberals

Ii recently read an opinion article at the ABC news site. Here is a link to the article if anyone is interested http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2006/story?id=2635019&page=1. I am not taking issue with the article per se, but I have been hearing a lot of things about "liberal christians" lately. I am not sure what this term means. In the aforementioned article Jim Wallis talks about how Jesus would be more concerned with feeding the poor and health care than abortion or gay marriage. At least I think that is what ole Jim is saying. If I am wrong feel free to enlighten me. I agree the way we feed and care for our poor is abysmal. We can all do more individually and as a nation. I don't however believe that evangelicals are no longer concerned about abortion or gay marriage. If evangelicals aren't still concerned over those things then we are in trouble. I believe God still forbids homosexual relations and still forbids the taking of innocent life. No matter what other "moral issues" there are these two are still very much at issue. If liberal christians don't see this then maybe they are just religious liberals. Something to think about.

Here we go

Well here we go. The Democrats have control of the Congress and probably the Senate. It is a sad day for anyone who values family, and decency. The blame of course lies at the feet of the President. Had he dumped Rumsfeld a couple of months ago and persuaded Cheney to resign this would have been a different election. But ole W is nothing if not stubborn. Well God is in control and if we can survive the Clinton trauma we can survive this. It won't take Pelosi with her liberal values long to show the American people what a mistake they have made. If the President can keep from messing up and since Rummy has announced he is stepping down, we may be able to salvage 2008. It is time for the Republican party to purge itself of perverts, thieves, and corrupt career politicos and bring in a fresh crop of folks with traditional conservative values. The good news is of course Harold Ford JR. will have to work at the family funeral home I guess since he lost to Bob Corker. And we Tennesseans did overwhelmingly pass an amendment protecting the sanctity of marriage, so the night wasn't a complete wash. God is still on the throne no matter if the heathens are temporarily in control of the government. The Roman and Greek empires fell due to their debauchery. I'm sure the Democrat's empire will be soon to follow. Unborn baby killing and same sex marriage can only take you so far. Things are sure to get interesting soon, since the Supreme Court is hearing arguments today on the law that was passed banning partial birth abortions that activist judges set aside as unconstitutional. I am looking forward to a win on that one. Pelosi will be some kind of mad. She does love her some unrestricted unborn baby killing on demand. Well folks I have to go pray. It's going to be a bumpy ride. Hold on because here we go.
